Award-winning pianist and a developer of the app Shazam, Charlie Hooper-Williams bridges the worlds of technology and music like few others can. In this captivating show, Hooper-Williams pairs his “vividly beautiful” “music to soothe the soul” with real-time visuals generated by Otto, his custom-built projection system. Each note played helps to build up striking imagery, creating what has been described as “film scoring inverted”—where visuals respond to music rather than the other way around.

As the debut artist on Way Beyond Music, Hooper-Williams has been praised as “a new exciting voice on the contemporary scene” (Times Radio). His work has been featured at SXSW, the Edinburgh Fringe, and Glastonbury Festival, blending classical tradition with cutting-edge innovation to create performances that are “a realm of pure musical ecstasy” (Music ‘n’ Gear). Whether in a concert hall or a club, his shows immerse audiences in a world where technology isn’t cold or distant but alive and collaborative.

From his birthplace in the north woods of Minnesota through his time on the Chicago band scene, to his current base in the UK, Hooper-Williams draws on a diverse background to craft performances that are both deeply human and boldly modern. With his music reaching hundreds of thousands of listeners worldwide and garnering editorial support from Apple Music, Hooper-Williams continues to captivate audiences and critics alike.
